Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC) have recently endorsed Rachel Crooks, candidate for the Ohio House of Representatives. Ms. Crooks will be challenging Bill Reineke in the November midterm election for the District 88 seat, which includes all of Sandusky County and a majority of Seneca County.
Eric Holder served as the 82nd Attorney General from 2009-2015 under President Obama, who has also endorsed Crooks’ campaign. Holder currently holds the role of Chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, a group that is the first ever centralized hub for executing a comprehensive redistricting strategy. The NDRC is attacking this problem from every angle to ensure the next round of redistricting is fair and that maps reflect the will of the voters.
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement from former Attorney General Eric Holder and the NDRC,” Crooks stated. “Gerrymandering is a big issue in our country, and as our next State Representative I will continue to fight for fairly drawn district maps in Ohio.” Crooks noted that the combination of money in politics and unfair district maps has left many people feeling disenfranchised with our political system. “It’s time we restore honesty, integrity and fairness in our society for the betterment of all people.”
The endorsements from Eric Holder and the NDRC are the latest additions to an expanding list of groups and community leaders that have endorsed Crooks, including: President Barack Obama, Senator Sherrod Brown, City of Bellevue Mayor Kevin Strecker, Gloria Steinem, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18, the Ohio Education Association, Ohio Federation of Teachers, Ohio Civil Service Employees Association, Ohio Association of Public School Employees, Ohio Farmers Union, Sheet Metal Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers – Transportation Division (SMART-TD), EMILY’s List, Run For Something, Matriots, MoveOn, BlueAmerica PAC, Launch Progress PAC, Planned Parenthood, People for the American Way, Only If You Run, NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio, and Teamsters Ohio D.R.I.V.E.. Her campaign was also given the Gun Sense Candidate Distinction by Moms Demand Action.
